Yesterday, I was going to write a funny blog post, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
On Monday, a dear friend of mine lost his brother in a freak accident. He was 28 years old.
The news was extremely shocking and when I heard the words on the phone I instantly broke down crying. This wasn’t just some guy who I met a couple times, this was a guy who had something, something special to offer. He’s one of the special ones.
Even though I only met him a few times, he was one of those people who’s kind of magnetic. The type of person who walks into a room and people are drawn to him, waiting to get a laugh from the funny guy who was going to move to L.A. and become a TV personality. The type of guy I admire, and wish I could be, who did what he loved and chased his dreams.
This person, who left us too soon is named Brad. If you know my friend Jeremy, Brad is his brother.
And I say “is” because he will always be his brother and nothing can ever change that. When I met Brad, everything made sense. I could see how much Jeremy looked up to him and understood his humor.
No matter what you believe, just know Brad is livin’ it up in heaven. I didn’t get the chance to get to know him here on earth, but I’d like to think I will someday.
And don’t worry Brad, I will still write about how much I despised Jeremy when I first met him. I know you’ll get a kick out of it.
